MINING &
EXPLORATION

Our team has a deep and broad experience in a range of transactions and other assignments that arise in the typical life cycle of a mines and minerals exploration and production process.

Mining And Exploration

Archeus Law has extensive experience in handling mining projects of different sizes and covering varied minerals and metals including iron-ore, zinc and gold. We advise clients and help see through the entire execution, development and implementation of mining projects.

The scope of projects undertaken in the recent past have included the acquisition and development of mines. We have provided strategic advice to a range of private Indian and foreign companies, who value our experience in the sector, and our ability to provide local market knowledge when needed.

We have undertaken legal due diligences of the targets and assisted in negotiating, structuring, drafting and vetting of various agreements such as joint ventures for mining projects, acquisition agreements, mine development agreements, leasing agreements for mining and quarrying, sub-contracting agreements, supply agreements, drilling contracts etc.
Our mining lawyers understand the risks and political intricacies inherent in carrying out mining operations in difficult jurisdictions.

Our firm has previously advised a consortium of investors led by an Australian mining company in the acquisition and development of an iron ore mining project in Kerala. That project represented one of the largest ever FDI projects in India and the largest ever FDI in the state of Kerala.

In addition, Archeus has been regularly advising a significant Australian conglomerate with interests in the mining sector in India. We have also advised a Western Australian ASX listed mining company with interests in the iron ore mining sector with their mining project related initiatives in India. Archeus was also retained by world’s leading hard rock mining entity; Perth based Barminco in structuring Mining Development Agreement which was executed with a leading Zinc entity in India.
